The future of money is becoming part of mainstream finance
Digital assets have moved a long way in the past decade.
What was once widely viewed as a fringe, speculative corner of financial services is increasingly converging with mainstream capital markets. Stablecoins, tokenised deposits, digital asset infrastructure and tokenisation are creating new ways to store, transfer and exchange value, while financial institutions are exploring how blockchain-based infrastructure can deliver greater efficiency across established markets.
At Reimagining Banking for the Intelligent Age, Zumo Founder and CEO Nick Jones joined The Future of Money session to discuss what comes next and why UK digital asset regulation will be central to determining how quickly that future develops.

Nick explores how greater regulatory clarity is changing the UK market for both digital asset businesses and established financial institutions. As cryptoasset activities move further into the regulated financial system, firms will need stronger governance, controls and UK-compliant infrastructure. Zumo's research highlights the readiness challenge: while nine in ten providers surveyed intend to apply for authorisation, half remain at the planning stage of their regulatory readiness initiatives. For institutions, increased certainty could also help turn years of digital asset pilots into scaled propositions. As traditional finance and digital assets continue to converge, partnerships between regulated firms and specialist infrastructure providers will be increasingly important. Zumo is focused on providing the infrastructure and routes to market businesses need to participate in this next phase of the UK digital asset economy.
